i want to begin by saying i really like it when people make those kind of broad, sweeping statements because when each party in a discussion come clean about what they believe to be true, you can easier get down to a factual discussion.. and i really do want to understand biblical science.

OK I get you, He wanted the forward looking prediction model not the backwards one. (no i didnt read the end of his 1st post) The flood event predicts the world as exactly we see it today, therefore it has to be true. .
I dont know what I believe anymore for sure so i just try and play devils advocate and just be fair to all available information.

Personally I had to read your question about 3 times to even understand what the hell you are on about. So WTF are you on about as you say i got it wrong? I thought you wanted something (anything) that "could" be used as backward pointing proof of the flood event.

Do you tell your kids Santa is real? How about if they are adults now? Same difference, if Noah was just a "story". The context is always as if he was a real historical figure in a real historical event and that lessons should be drawn from such.

Off the top of my head I think it's supposed to be 1600 yrs after Adam, so about 4400 yrs ago not 3400 yrs ago.
As to having a go at answering your question, ...Umm there's a hell of a LOT of water on this planet. That could easily be argued to satisfy your question, or not depending on your angle... In fact any satisfactory answer to your question can be argued away as well, because it is too easy to do so and it depends on what your are looking for in the way of an answer. Pro Noahs Ark or Pro Evolution.
For me, the more I look into Noahs flood the worse it gets. However......
I did do some basic (note basic!) research into population growth thru the ages and that did throw up some interesting points. (This again is all off the top of my head)
E.g If the population were to double in size every 150 yrs then it could easily achieve many billions within 6000 yrs. If it were to double every 80 yrs then it could easily achieve the many billions we have now after just 4400 yrs since the "flood" (yes allowing for death rates). Statistically population tends to double faster than that at about every 40 - 50 yrs currently although that is flexible and by no means fixed. So in other words it is easily possible to go from 8 people 4400 years ago to 7 Billion living now. Which then raises the other side of that point... If man is 100,000s of years old and there havn't been any Mass Extinction Events in the recent 100,000 yrs then why are there so FEW people on the earth? This DOES raise an interesting line of reasoning. But it looks flimsy when you consider the animal questions though.
After that the problems go deeper than that though, because throwing out Noahs ark throws out Christ, The Bible and quite likely God as well. Christ taught using Noah as an example, if it was just allegory then he was lying by doing so and as such greatly undermined his credentials.

i would say that the jw's are right on this subject.
however, i wouldn't be too comfortable if i was them in thinking that this is taking place within the congregation.. i would say that this is definitely happening where god is concerned.
he is obviously highlighting the paedophile problems and allowing this to take its course.
I concur, to me making categorical statements of what God or Christ are doing or thinking or feeling about anything not stated in the scriptures like the WTS do and some posters on here do all the bloody time is to say the least arrogant, ...and quite likely blasphemous to boot.

We have hopes of such, but to make them statements of unbounded fact is asking for a slap.

do you all think there will be huge drop in memberships of jehovah witnesses during 2014?
i don't believe so because the governing body member will come up with new reasons why armageddon hasn't come yet.
i was thinking they will reinterpret scriptures and stuff....
I think the drop is now. it will likely rise again towards 2014, then drop again after, then 2018, then the same again for 2034 (120yrs from 1914 = same as Noahs time period). The Noooooooolight will be "adjusted" in accordance with the timing of those years to highten (but not directly state) expectations. e.g "The year 2014AD will mark (clever word MARK as it weights the sentence) 100yrs since Christ came to power in his Heavenly Kingdom"...
However I cant think of a single time when 100 years had ANY significance biblicaly so 2014 and 2018 are merely human timelines as if 100yrs had some kind of significance (which it clearly doesnt). So they will likely not discourage such speculations and will be feeding it subtly as above.
